Sherburne Earlville Drama Club is open to students in grades 6 thru 12. The club puts on two productions per year.  Each fall, an evening of short One-Act plays is presentedand a small number of the more experienced students, usually juniors andseniors, are allowed to choose and direct a one-act play (pending directorapproval).  The student directorsare responsible for choosing, casting and directing their one-act, which allowsthem to learn and experience things from the director’s perspective.  Students are also encouraged to writetheir own one-act plays to submit for production.  In the spring, the Drama Club stages a full-lengthproduction.  Past productions include,The Crucible, Little Women, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Great Expectations,You Can’t Take It With You, The Importance of Being Earnest and OurTown.

The Drama Club is also a member ofNYSTEA (New York State Theatre Education Association) since 2000.  This allows members to attend theNYSTEA Student Conference held each winter in the Catskills.  This high quality conference allows thestudents to take workshops from professionals in the theatre world, as well asthe opportunity to network with over 500 other high school drama students fromaround NY State.

The Drama Club also attends theMichael Harms Theater Festival in Syracuse, NY every spring.  Two one-act plays from the fallproduction are chosen to bring to this festival.  At the two-day festival, the shows are performed andadjudicated by a panel of judges, who eventually choose the awards andscholarship recipients for the weekend.

S-E has historically done very well at this festival, bringing home awards and scholarships each year since 2000.
